Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) and Concrete Membranes

Natural sodium bentonite granules mechanically bonded between two geotextiles (one woven and one nonwoven). GCL is used in environmental projects, while bentonite membranes are used in infrastructure and building projects.

While the philosophy is the same for both materials, the production process differs, and this is what sets their applications apart.
This is Active Waterproofing.

Bentonite Membrane
Bentonite is activated when it comes into contact with liquid; it swells and prevents anything from penetrating the structure, creating an active gel-like water barrier.

It is produced in various types, including those with an HDPE membrane laminated to the surface, those with a geogrid laminated to the surface, and those with polymer-modified bentonite.
